"Yes and a good leader must also have restraint. He can't go attacking unarmed villagers, even if they are tying him to a chair..."

"And taken him hostage for a festival." She laughed lightly as she watched the day turn into night while the villagers made a bonfire. "That flames that take life the flames that give life."

Aneko didn't notice it because the site of the roaring fire outside the villagers created swirled in her eyes. The hyponotic light bathe her skin in it's warm glow, the flames danced around as the villagers started to sing songs and cook the deer the men had hunted for eariler. Finally she noticed him reaching for something; for some unknown reason, she walked to the boy/man and began to undo the knots on the rope.

He stopped trying to reach the knife and looked down at her hands. He sighed and looked up at her face. "So how many times now have you rescued me? At least a dozen isn't it?"

She shurgged at him as the last knot came loose and the rope that kepted him bound loosened and fallen. "This isn't exactly rescuing really. Besides. When i'm in the mood, I may rescue you but it won't mean that much in the future when we're all on the pointless and bloody battle field"

He grimaced as he stood up. "Unfortunately that's true. In war nothing matters. People lose all memory of why they are fighting and become no more than savage, bloodthirsty animals."

He grimace never left his face as he began rubbing his arms to restore the circulation. "I would have to be. Otherwise i would not have survived this long. Though we may wish it.... There is a very good chance that this war will wage for centuries until both clans are destroyed."

Aneko shurgged, not caring. "My loife time will most likely end by the time of that so it won't really matter to me. Though I tresure my clan to the very end, it won't mean i'll protect it in the afterlife."

He looked at her, his face blank. "Yes that's true for most people. However...while i may not be the leader of my clan, i will continue to protect it until it is destroyed or time stops."

He smiled and laughed. "I think i'll pass on that offer." He whistled sharply and Entei came barrerling out of the forest. He stopped beside the two and Pyran climbed up looking down at Aneko. "It's getting late, so you should probably head for home. As for me, i've got to go and see if Jashi and Akume have killed each other yet." He sighed and smiled slightly. "They way my lucks been going they probably did and burned down the entire village in the process." He turned Entei and rode of toward home.

Aneko felt nothing as he rode off. She walked out of the hut as her garments changed into something a bit more festive. She let out a care free laugh as a little girl led her around the bon fire as she and the other villages danced the night away, hoping for a better future. Celebrating, the new resurrection. Mouring, as the fire sent the remains of the dead back in to the sky.

Atop entei in the trees just outside the circle of firelight he watched them. He smiled as he saw her go out and start dancing with the villagers. Like i said, there's no telling what she'll do next. Those two will be alright till i get back, so i guess i can stay to watch the festival. He climbed off and sat down. He began tap his hand in tune with the music as entei moved off to eat some grass. He leaned against the tree and fell asleep sometime around three in the morning, with the festival still in full spring.
